We don’t just watch TV and movies. We teach you the skills you need to make films and TV programs. Students will learn camera operation skills, on camera skills, as well as, how to write, shoot, and edit numerous productions for television, film, and social media. It’s not easy. It takes hard work and dedication, but it is a lot of fun!
The Television and Film Production Program has been designed to simulate a college curriculum. We expect our students to be energetic, upbeat and possess the ability to work well with others. The ability to write and read well is a must and they should be comfortable speaking in front of a large audience.
Students take six honors level courses during their four years in the program. During their freshman and sophomore years students take fundamental courses which give them essential skills and an overview of the Television and Film industries. These skills are reinforced both in and out of the classroom through special guest speakers, field trips, student organizations, community service, and computer technology use with an opportunity to earn an Adobe Certified Professional Certificate in Premiere Pro.
Students then specialize with higher-level courses during their junior and senior years. In addition to their regular TV & Film production class, students will take advanced broadcasting during their junior year, and advanced film during their senior year. This leads to an opportunity to earn an Adobe Certified Professional Certificate in After Effects, as well as the eligibility for the Bright Futures Scholarship Program and internships or employment at local businesses where students can apply the knowledge they learned in class in a real-world environment.
